I See the Sea
She asked the child on the beach,
"What do you see?"
"I see the sea." was the reply.
"What do you hear?" she asked again.
"I hear the sea," the child replied.
"What do you feel?" the lady asked.
"The sand and the sea," was the child's simple reply.
The child looked up and asked the lady fair,
"What do you see?"
"I see a place where the water meets the sky,
A place where the seals and dolphins play,
And where each wave becomes a possibility of a ride,
I see a place to sit or walk all day."
"And what do you hear? the child asked her again.
"I hear the the waves, as they crash against each other.
I hear the cry of a gull
And a baby seal talking to his mother."
"I know you'll ask what I feel, and that is harder to explain.
And harder to put into words that rhyme but I'll try."
"I feel God's presence as he paints the sky.
I feel Mother Nature's power as each crashing wave goes by.
I feel the peace that the sea's presence brings as we
Become one and as I too
see the sea."
Whenever I go and sit and watch the waves come in and go out, I feel a connection with the universe. It may be because I am a Pisces, which is a water sign, but I think it's more than that. I'm finding it hard to put into words but I know that the ocean is part of who I am.
