Mother's Day

I Often Go Walking -

The children at our church sing this song for Mother's Day and every year it reminds me of the wonderful things my mother passed on to me.  I can name many of the flowers and trees in my garden because of my mother. She passed on her love of nature to all of her daughters.

I often go walking in meadows of clover,

I gather armfuls of blossoms of blue.

I gather the blossoms the whole meadow over,

Dear Mother the flowers remind me of you.

Oh Mother I give my love with each flower,

To give forth a fragrance a whole lifetime through;

For if I love blossoms and meadows and walking,

I learn how to love them dear Mother from you.

Have You Seen a Fairy Today?

Have You Seen a Fairy Today?

Have you seen a Fairy today?

Have you seen them at play?

Where do the fairies go to play?

Where do they live -

Where do they stay?

For some the only fairy they've seen, is in a book,

For others they've found them in houses by a brook.

All I know is it's fun to look -

For the fairies that have escaped from the book.

These are pictures I've taken of Fairy Gardens in California.  A Fairy Garden can be small or large.  They're fun to make and fun to see.

I See the Sea

I See the Sea

She asked the child on the beach,
"What do you see?"
"I see the sea." was the reply.

"What do you hear?" she asked again.
"I hear the sea," the child replied.

"What do you feel?" the lady asked.
"The sand and the sea," was the child's simple reply.

The child looked up and asked the lady fair,
"What do you see?"

"I see a place where the water meets the sky,

A place where the seals and dolphins play,

And where each wave becomes a possibility of a ride,
I see a place to sit or walk all day."

"And what do you hear? the child asked her again.

"I hear the the waves, as they crash against each other.
I hear the cry of a gull

And a baby seal talking to his mother."

"I know you'll ask what I feel, and that is harder to explain.
And harder to put into words that rhyme but I'll try."

"I feel God's presence as he paints the sky.

I feel Mother Nature's power as each crashing wave goes by.

I feel the peace that the sea's presence brings as we
Become one and as I too

see the sea."

Whenever I go and sit and watch the waves come in and go out, I feel a connection with the universe. It may be because I am a Pisces, which is a water sign, but I think it's more than that. I'm finding it hard to put into words but I know that the ocean is part of who I am.

Taking a Walk Back in Time

TAKING A WALK BACK IN TIME
Pictures from the Santa Cruz Boardwalk

I took a walk back in time today

On the Santa Cruz Boardwalk

I visited the "fun" places of my youth,

Where the rides are there for fun and shock!

When I think back to those carefree days,

The dreams of a child become an adults worse fears!!!....,

Specially when the music of the Merry-go-round,

Is drowned out by the screams and cheers.

The Big Dipper (rollercoaster) didn't seem as tall

As it did when I was a child.

The funhouse and big slide were gone.

In their place was a pirate's cove so mild.

The joy of riding a beautiful horse

Was still there of coarse.

The merry-go-ride of my dreams

Where I can still reach out and catch a ring

And the horses seem to prance in step

While the organ seems to sing

Scarey to Some...

Fun to Others...

A place of memories to share

With friends, sisters and brothers.
